Doe Deere: The CEO of Lime Crime and Unicorn Queen

Not everyone is brave enough to face their dreams. Back in 2008, the internet was light in the online cosmetics department. Shopping for novel makeup products online was a nonexistent endeavor. Being an eccentric and unique individual with a passion for enthralling makeup choices had many limits. Luckily, Doe Deere – the world’s self-proclaimed Unicorn Queen – stepped up to the plate and changed the cosmetics industry forever.

You might be wondering how Doe Deere accomplished this. Born in Russia, Doe Deere moved to New York City at the age of seventeen. She studied fashion design in New York City before she became the CEO and founder of Lime Crime. She attended the Fashion Institute of Technology while in New York. Doe Deere also had a career in music before Lime Crime became the well-known brand that it is today.

Sometime in 2004, Doe Deere started designing and making her own clothing designs. She would sell her own original clothing online. She noticed that her makeup did not complement her bright clothing designs as well as she would have liked, so she started making them. After all, she was the one designing and modeling her own fashion in order to sell her pieces online.

Since Doe Deere had to create her own makeup line to flatter her fashion pieces, she had to do a bit of brainstorming. What did she want her makeup brand to stand for? Doe Deere’s love of fairy tales helped her to create the very essence of Lime Crime, which is evident in the fact that the mascot of the company is a unicorn.

Not only is the company mascot a unicorn, but many of the products used in Lime Crime are mythical-themed. For instance, the goddess Venus is evident in some of Lime Crime’s eyeshadow palettes, and mermaids have been referenced as a part of the Lime Crime makeup brushes.

The cosmetic products from Lime Crime are rather mythical as well. With glittery, diamond-crushed lip glosses and rainbow-colored liquid liners, it’s easy to imagine a fantasy dream world as you apply them. Launched in 2008, Doe Deere was able to provide makeup lovers with a colorful spin on traditional trends.

One of the ways that Doe Deere sold her brand was by offering helpful makeup tutorials to go with her Lime Crime cosmetics. Coupled with her unique take on makeup trends, Doe Deere’s knowledge sure paved a way for cosmetic lovers.

Oddly enough, Doe Deere discovered that her makeup would be the true pot of gold at the end of a rainbow. She started out with a vision for fashion, but her makeup products would take the lead as far as making a profit.

The makeup Doe Deere created is bold, fun, and creative. In order to have a successful online business, Doe Deere recommends listening to feedback that other people give you, whether in the office or anywhere else. She believes it will help you to develop your brand if the criticism is taken in stride. Learn more:
