Ask Sam Tabar what motivates his work for environmental solutions and the prominent attorney explains, “Nowadays, intensive and misuse of resources and discharge of waste into the environment contribute to the deterioration of the planet. This change has increasing negative demands on society such as our health, economy, the food we eat, and ecology.” His reasoning is compelling. “Everyday, pollution of our environment increases, and man increasingly sets a precedent for danger, yet many of us remain unconcerned,” adds Tabar from one of his Vimeo posts.
With a stellar reputation and impressive resume, Tabar recently took on the role as COO at Full Cycle Energy, where he will oversee the fund’s portfolio and ensure delivery of investment performance and strategic growth. After a successful early career as an attorney, Tabar was prepared for an entirely different approach to a needy industry. Even today, he routinely renders legal opinions on partnership matters and structured finance transactions.
With a B.A. with honors from Oxford University, and a Masters of Law from Columbia University Law School, Sam Tabar was first employed by Skadden, Arps, Slater, Meagher & Flom LLP as an associate attorney representing clients on a broad range of issues including structuring and management of hedge funds, futures funds, private equity funds and regulatory issues. With the same penchant for investment management activities, Tabar moved with the times and left Skadden, Arps, Slater, Meagher & Flom LLP for PMA Investment Advisors as Managing Director.
In 2011, Tabar moved on to Bank of America and by 2013, he was at Schulte Roth & Zabel LLP, but then taking a look at the world around him redirected his focus to social issues. “There is a proliferation of pollution and waste these days,” says Tabar. After rising through the ranks at various firms, today, he’s the Chief Operating Officer of the FullCycle Energy Fund, responsible for managing and implementing fund strategy, to deliver optimum performance. The company is intensively driven to lower cost and capitalize on environmentally friendly fuels. In his personal life Sam Tabar takes on charitable causes, most notably AWI which he’s currently working on raising funds towards through Go Fund Me.
